So many times He tells us not to fear.

So many times He tells us that when we're with Him nothing can happen to us that is outside of His will.

Even if we don't yet know the whole story, we can trust Him- it'll be a beautiful one.

Don't be afraid to take a leap of faith.

Jesus wants His Will for your life even more than you ever could-

He created you for greatness- for radical joy, peace, love, surrender, and above all, holiness.

Letting Him lead us is TRULY the best adventure of our lives 🤍

The Spirit KNOWS your heart.

"Brothers and sisters:
The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness;
for we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.
And the one who searches hearts
knows what is the intention of the Spirit,
because he intercedes for the holy ones
according to God’s will." Romans 8:26-27

Ask Him to reveal the inner workings of your own heart to you today.

"Oh God, you search me and you know me" says Psalm 139. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit search and know you- even when you don't seem to know yourself. .

Friends, we don't know what we're doing.

We don't know how to pray or act or live as we ought.

Half the time, we can't even decipher our own thoughts, feelings, and directions.

But there's hope. because the Holy Spirit can and does. He searches our hearts and intercedes for and with us.

When we don't know where to go or how to act, we can be confident that, even in our weakness, the Spirit will come to our aid. He's our consoler, our comforter, our intercessor.

He Loves YOU.

And He's the God of Miracles. Ask Him for what you need.

But I think the DMV is a classic example.

I had to go and sit for two-ish hours today and found myself with an almost dead phone and no book to read. So, amidst the robotic voice calling numbers and the chatter of (some, angry...) people, I found silence in the Rosary. I couldn't do anything "productive" but I could pray. And prayer is the most productive, efficacious, beautiful thing we could ever do 🤍

One year ago this week I sat in this same exact spot, in this same exact chapel, on a college visit.

I'd always wanted to go to Franciscan and study theology- but a year after my associates degree and dozens of twists and turns, I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if Jesus wanted me back in school or to stay home and work.
I was anxious. I was afraid to make the wrong decision.

There were so many different factors and possibilities floating around in my head and I had no idea where He was leading or needing me. I prayed and prayed and prayed. Discussed. Cried. I'd even say agonized over this decision. But I made the decision.

And now, a year later, and with so many more plot twists than I ever could have anticipated- He's brought me back to this beautiful place. It was the right choice. His Plan is better than anything else.

If there's anything I've learned in this past year, it's that slow and steady decision making is beautiful, but sometimes we need to take a leap of faith. 🤍 Stepping in to the place Jesus is calling you, even when it might at first seem new or scary or uncertain IS often uncomfortable.

But Jesus is faithful. He knows what we need. He knows where He needs us. And if you make the "wrong" decision? He still uses all that we give Him for the salvation of our own souls and the building up of the Kingdom. 🤍

Saint Francis.

He's shown up in my life time and time again.

Br. Simon Mary (@father_chopstix) gave an incredibly rich and beautiful reflection last night at the Transitus- and one of the things he said was that "we can't forget the Portiuncula moments." Saint Francis, before he died, wanted to be at the Portiuncula Chapel. This was the place where he first understood his Vocation, began his ministry, and then finally returned to die. This place was filled with so many impactful moments in his own life that he entrusted it's care to his brothers before he died. He wanted them to have a spiritual and physical connection to the place Jesus had used to work so clearly in his life.

And it hit me- all of the "turning points" and moments of conversion in my life have happened in a way or place where St. Francis was interceding in some way.

He's shown up in my life so clearly through the wisdom, guidance, and prayer of the Friars and Sisters who've followed in his footsteps towards Christ.

In high school- the moment I truly fell in love with Jesus- a Steubenville conference at @franciscanuniversity

Later on, on a retreat that changed my life- with the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth at my parish at home.

At another Steubenville conference where I experienced the love of the Father- through a Franciscan friar.

As I started college, made beautiful friendships, was broken and let Jesus in- @saintfrancispa

And now, after so much wrestling with God's plan, Jesus led me back to @franciscanuniversity.

Saint Francis has given me a beautiful example of humility in imitation of Christ and a desire to follow Jesus with true and perfect joy and simplicity. Yes, the Poor Man of Assisi has been my friend. 🤍

He wanted them to have a spiritual and physical connection to the place Jesus had used to work so clearly in his life.

And it hit me- all of the "turning points" and moments of conversion in my life have happened in a way or place where St. Francis was interceding in some way.

He's shown up in my life so clearly through the wisdom, guidance, and prayer of the Friars and Sisters who've followed in his footsteps towards Christ.

In high school- the moment I truly fell in love with Jesus- a Steubenville conference at @franciscanuniversity

Later on, on a retreat that changed my life- with the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth at my parish at home.

At another Steubenville conference where I experienced the love of the Father- through a Franciscan friar.

As I started college, made beautiful friendships, was broken and let Jesus in- @saintfrancispa

And now, after so much wrestling with God's plan, Jesus led me back to @franciscanuniversity.

Saint Francis has given me a beautiful example of humility in imitation of Christ and a desire to follow Jesus with true and perfect joy and simplicity. Yes, the Poor Man of Assisi has been my friend. 🤍

YES!! The answer is yes. 100%. Absolutely.

Today's Gospel got me thinking about the healing ministry of the Apostles. Jesus literally told His disciples to "take nothing for your journey and heal the sick..."

So are we called to do that too?

Yes- without a doubt. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is "intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness" (CCC 1511) and may certainly bring about physical or emotional healing!

In addition to this, we are called as Christians to pray and intercede for those who are sick that they might be healed.

The Catechism (1506-1513) says:

✨We share in Jesus' ministry of compassion and healing.
✨The Lord renews this mission: "In my name... They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover."
✨These signs and healings demonstrate that Jesus is truly the God who saves.
✨The Holy Spirit gives the charism of healing to manifest the power of the Risen Lord
✨The Church has received this charge from the Lord and strives to carry it out by taking care of the sick as well as by accompanying them with her prayer of intercession.

Jesus says, "...whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it." (Jn 14:12-14)

If this is true, then when we pray for healing in Jesus' name, we can have faith that, in God's timing, He will do it. We can pray with faith and expectation, always in submission to God’s perfect will. Though not every single person we pray for will be healed at that moment or in the way that we expect, Jesus can and wants to heal them. He knows what they need for their body, soul, and salvation.

Friends, I've seen miracles. I saw a woman get up and walk who hadn't walked for a long time, my own dislocated knee shift back into place, a woman hold her arm over her head when she could barely move it before.

And this is just a tiny glimpse. 🤍 Pray for healing in the name of Jesus. Intercede for your Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Let the Holy Spirit work through you.

These are relics.

Relics are pieces of the physical remains (bodies) of a saint or of something that belonged to them (a piece of clothing, bedding, etc.)

These are in no way worshiped - worship belongs to God alone- but are seen as special- set apart- because of their connection to (or with) this person who is now in Heaven.

Think of it like putting photographs up in your room to remind you to pray for your friends- or maybe you have a grandparent who passed away and you have their picture nearby to feel close to them. Or you have a jacket or T-shirt of a loved one who has passed away. It's the same thing. (just started a couple thousand years before photographs and t shirts were a thing!!😉)

Relics help us to feel connected with our Brothers and Sisters who are already in Heaven. We know that they intercede for us before God (Rev. 5:8) and that their prayers are powerful (James 5:16). Just as I can ask my friend here on earth to pray for me, so I can ask a Saint friend who is fully alive with Christ in Heaven!! After all, is "the prayer of a righteous person is very powerful," (James 5:16) then who is more righteous than a Brother or Sister in Christ who's been fully purified and now lives in total communion with God?! 🥹 Relics are signs that help us to remember this reality.

St. Carlo Acutis and St. Gianna Molla are my friends- truly. St. Gianna is my Confirmation Saint and has prayed for me time and time again, and I've been asking St. Carlo to pray for my future husband since the time I was 13 or 14. It's so special to be able to pray alongside these relics at @franciscanuniversity 🤍

JP2 was right.

We need to be convincing witnesses to the truth. We need to protect each other. Because friends, we are ALL created for that glorious fulfillment. Our God loves us all- so who are we to not love one another? What happened yesterday. What happened this week. What happened this month. What happened last year. And what happened 24 years ago today- none of it is okay.

But in the devestation and grief, we can't tear our nation apart. We can't point fingers. We can't spend endless nights scrolling and calculating the "what-ifs."

JP2 was right.

We need revival. We need to stir into flame these gifts of God, because, without Him, any work towards peace is done in vain.

We can reflect- but flames aren't stagnant. We need to act. Don't just call for peace and Love and Truth- live it. Love requires action.

In the last year or so, and more specifically in this last week, I've discovered a love for the Catechism.
What a blessing it is to have a text that contains a summary and explanation of all that Christ's Church teaches!!

I was never quite sure what the Catechism was- what the purpose of it was- why we needed it if it wasn't the Bible.

The Catechism is not here for us to read instead of the Bible- rather, it serves as a companion to the Christian life, summarizing the teachings of the faith that comes from Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium in a way that is easy to comprehend.

In a word, it makes the faith accessible.

The great depths of knowledge that are found in this text are simply remarkable. Reading so much for class in this last week has opened my eyes to the Catechism and how useful it is in explaining the faith. There are lines I've found myself nodding along with- "Oh. So THAT'S why we do that..."

Questions I've never even considered before have been answered.

So friend, if you don't yet own a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church- please buy one. It makes a fantastic resource for apologetics and evangelization, is a key tool for catechists, as well as those learning the faith even for the first time, and is a great book to take to adoration with you.

So why do we celebrate Mamma Mary's birthday on September 8, specifically?

It all ties back to the Sacred Tradition of the Church. We know Mary was human- and so we know she was born. So why would we NOT celebrate the woman God chose to be the Mother of our Savior?!

The official liturgical celebration began in the 6th century in the Eastern Church, and the 7th century in the West, and was made a universal celebration in the 13th century, but the choice of September 8th in particular is established from Sacred Tradition.

There are writings of Christians in the 6th century that refer to a celebration of Mary's birth- specifically a text called the Hymn of Romanus. This gives us evidence that the celebration has already been taking place at that point, and gave the Church reason to continue the celebration. These writings aren't included in the canon of Scripture, but can be helpful in understanding the Traditions of the Early Church and the way Early Christians lived. The September 8 date, though not mentioned in the Hymn of Romanus, comes from the Eastern calendar which named the celebration on that day.

Even if we don't know for certain the exact day that Mary was born, we do know that the Church has been celebrating her birthday for centuries, and she's Jesus' mom and now, ours, too!! That alone is worth celebrating : )

Brooke is the owner of Marlean Fitness, a YouTube channel where she creates modest, Christ-Centered Fitness content that encourages women to move with purpose, dress with dignity, and glorify God through health and holiness.

Movement has always been a part of who Brooke is—after dancing her whole life and becoming a barre instructor, she developed a deep love for helping others move with strength and grace. At the same time, she wrestled for years with immodesty and body image. As her faith grew, so did her desire to bring modesty and movement together.

The idea for MarLean Fitness truly sparked when a friend told Brooke how uncomfortable she felt doing a YouTube workout while her young son was in the room—realizing that he would grow up thinking it was normal to see women dressed immodestly in those spaces. That conversation lit a fire in her, and she knew she wasn’t alone.

I once had someone ask me if it was okay to leave graffiti or other permanent markings in public areas if they were Christian words or symbols that would point people to Christ...

Now, from an apologetics standpoint, the answer is no- a law against marking public or private property is one that is a just law and thus, should be obeyed. While it may not be a sin to leave graffiti or stickers in public places, it may cause greater issues as a civil matter.

The Catechism teaches that we all have a duty to evangelize (CCC 849)- but there are plenty of better ways to spread the Gospel- most especially by the way you live your life for Christ. You yourself are more effective at evangelizing by the way you live your life than any scratch in a desk!! 😂

... but when I saw this in class today, I couldn't help but smile 😊

You keep thinking it's a picture of a guy you knew in highschool, somebody falling off a cliff, or some stunt artist with a new PR idea.

Who are they? And why are the Catholics so excited? 😂

The teen with the backpack? That's Carlo Acutis. He was a student, gamer, computer programmer, and above all, a lover of Christ.

He was a genius when it came to computers, and combined this passion with His Love for Jesus.
As a teen, he used his tech skills to create an online exhibit of Eucharistic miracles. These are moments where the Eucharist was scientifically shown to be human flesh and blood.
Carlo's one mission: bring souls to Christ, especially leading them to love Him in the Holy Eucharist. Carlo died of Leukemia in 2006 at age 15.

And the guy on the cliff? Thats Pier. Pier Giorgio Frassati was a young man who had a deep love for the poor, a passion for politics, mountain climbing, sports, theater, the opera, visiting museums, painting and music. Because of his family's status in the early 1900s in Italy, when Pier died of Polio at the age of 24, it was expected that his funeral would be filled with politicians, powerful people from wealthy families, etc. Instead, thousands of Pier's friends showed up- people from all walks of life, but especially the poor, who he had impacted and loved in various ways.

Both are going to officially be declared Saints by the Church on September 7th- which means the Church has recognized their heroic virtue and miracles worked through their intercession, and that they are in Heaven.

So this is a very, very exciting time in the Church and in the world... to see the first millennial Saint and another who is such an inspiration to young people is so amazing!!

I KNOW I'm not the only one who was affected by this.

If I could go back and tell myself anything, I'd say to #1, look for the fruits of the Spirit, and #2, look for a motive- is this person posting this because it will get more views? Or are they truly seeking to educate and inform the faithful on ACTUAL Church teaching, approved by the Magisterium, and not unapproved private revelation?

Our God is a God of love. When He returns to bring us to Himself- whether at the end of time or at the end of our earthly lives- if we are living our lives with Him, we have no need to be afraid 🤍

When you're presented with the opportunity to discuss the Second Coming whether it's online or in everyday conversation, please, please know what the Church truly teaches and how to convey it with love, not fear. It will save so, so many hearts from fear. 🤍
